Information Technology Industry Council (ITI)

2019 – Present

At ITI, I lead global AI policy, helping tech companies address key challenges in AI development and deployment. I recently led the creation of our AI Accountability Framework and Guide to Understanding the AI Value Chain - resources that help policymakers and companies better understand AI systems and their impacts. Working with stakeholders worldwide, from U.S. Congress to international regulators, I work with our members to develop positions and advocate for policies that promote responsible AI innovation while mitigating risk.

Atlantic Council

2023-Present

As a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's GeoTech Center, I look at how AI shapes global competition and the key role of international cooperation. My research and commentary focuses on international AI governance and safety initiatives. I write about AI's geopolitical implications and collaborate with experts to advance understanding of AI's global impact.

U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration

2014-2019

Before I moved to the private sector, I worked for the U.S. government, where I worked with U.S. tech companies to advance their interests in markets overseas. While there, I focused on cybersecurity issues through a trade policy lens, advocating for standards-based approaches to prevent regulatory fragmentation and trade barriers. I led initiatives across Asia-Pacific to promote risk-based cybersecurity frameworks and developed strategies to strengthen U.S. competitiveness in emerging technologies like 5G.
